Releases · get the app

Get Riot.

Riot is in active development. When builds are cut, macOS and Android packages attach to a GitHub Release and appear here automatically; the iOS beta is open through TestFlight. Nothing on this page is a finished, audited product — read the honest status below before you install anything.

macOS & Android

Desktop and Android, from GitHub Releases.

Native packages attach to the releases page on GitHub as they are cut. The buttons below point at the latest release; if no release has been published yet, they land on the releases index.

Android

Download for Android

An .apk (and, when published, a Play Store link) for the native Android shell, attached to the latest GitHub Release.

If the buttons above land on an empty releases list, no build has been published yet. The page fills in automatically the moment a .dmg or .apk is attached to a GitHub Release — no manual update to this site required.

iOS & TestFlight

iPhone — the TestFlight beta is open.

iOS runs through Apple TestFlight. This is an early alpha build, not a finished or audited product — expect rough edges and missing pieces. You will need the free TestFlight app from Apple to install it.

Join the public alpha and get new builds as they ship. It is an early prototype — read the honest status below before you rely on it for anything.

Honest status

What "get the app" means today.

Riot is a prototype in active development. Anything you install from this page is an early build, not a finished or audited product.

Today

No published release yet

The GitHub releases page is the source of truth. If it is empty, there is nothing to install. The home page screenshots are real app screens from the iPhone simulator build — they are not evidence of sync over physical-device radios.

When builds appear

Treat them as prototypes

Do not rely on early builds for anything that must stay secret. Private encrypted groups are not shipped; current public spaces are not confidential. Use established encrypted messengers for sensitive communication. See the privacy stance.

Free, open source, and forkable. If you want to run Riot before a binary ships, the source and build instructions are public — cargo test --workspace --all-features is the canonical verification command.
